Well, Looks Like Barack and Vladimir Have Something in Common After All

Specifically, they're among the 3 most admired people in the world according to YouGov, with Obama coming in 2nd and Putin 3rd. Bill Gates wins the top prize with 10.10% of the sample expressing admiration for Microsoft's co-founder and former CEO.

In the countries polled, Obama seems to be most admired in Britain, Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, and America, all of which either rate him as the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd most admirable person in the world. Putin doesn't break the top 3 anywhere except Russia, but makes it to the global top 3 by sheer density. Whereas Obama's share in any one country is usually somewhere near 10%, over 24% of Russians polled pointed to Putin as the public figure they admired most (Obama pulled similar numbers in Nigeria).

If anyone was wondering the 4th most admired public person was Pope Francis, who came in 1st in Brazil, Germany, and America.
