There are 0 memorable lines in Phantom Menace...prove me wrong

So, yesterday Rob Bricken wrote "How Star Wars Proves Children are Morons" and his premise is absolutely correct, but I do take exception to his assertion that A New Hope's dialogue is just as bad as The Phantom Menace's is.

Unless the film is something like Tommy Wiseau's The Room, when a movie produces as many memorable lines as the first Star Wars does, the dialogue can't be truly bad. Let's just take a gander at some of the incredible quotes from A New Hope, several which we still lovingly repeat to this day because they are delicious little bits of writing, many of them extremely funny in context:

  • I find your lack of faith disturbing.
  • May the Force be with you.
  • Sorry about the mess.
  • Boring conversation, anyway. LUKE, WE'RE GONNA HAVE COMPANY!
  • Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi; you're my only hope.
  • Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?
  • That's no moon. It's a space station.
  • You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought.
  • Great, kid. Don't get cocky.
  • Let the Wookie win.
  • Use the Force, Luke.
  • If there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from.
  • What an incredible smell you've discovered
  • These aren't the droids your looking for.

These lines still work when you pop that flick into the DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS player, or maybe you still have it on Super 8. They all find their mark and are beautifully performed by their actors.

There are 0 memorable lines in Phantom Menace...prove me wrong

I challenge you to find one, just one truly memorable line in The Phantom Menace. And no, "Meesa Jar Jar Binks," doesn't count. We only remember it because it was the moment George Lucas touched us in the bad place.
