Illustrator Mauricio Abril spent a good portion of 2013 committing a Batman story that had been rattling around in his head onto digital paper. Today, he revealed his finished tale for the world to see.

"A Gotham Fairytale" is a short Batman adventure told in a sequence of roughly animated storyboards. With Muse's "Knights of Cydonia" setting the aural tone, Batman does what he does best when he scales a glass and steel castle to rescue a young princess.

Short but very atmospheric, this piece is stirs up memories of Batman: The Animated Series (whose cast and crew Abril dedicates his work to) and a desire to see a new animated Batman movie on the big screen.
