Christmas is coming (we won't discuss the goose's fitness level), Hanukkah is finishing up, I don't know if other people have celebrations at this time of year or if those involve gift giving. What I want to know is what (if anything) are you celebrating these days?
I was raised in a nominally Christian household - church on Sunday, Sunday school, not much else - but by the time I finished confirmation class in eighth grade I figured out that I was an atheist. But I didn't stop celebrating Christmas, I just changed what it meant to me. Rather than being a religious holiday I see it as a chance to show the people I love how much I care about them by giving them gifts. I hate Christmas lists for just this reason. You should know the person well enough that you know what they would like/want without having to be told.
So, yeah, Christmas is more like a Hobbit birthday party in my book.
