Blizzard reveals the new look of WoW's human female character modelsS

Holy shit, it's Eve Myles?

The first in a new series of blog posts about the long-awaited updates to WoW's player character models coming in this year's expansion pack, Warlords of Draenor, has gone live on the official WoW website - with the Human female now joining the Gnomes, Dwarves, Forsaken, Male Tauren and Male Orc in this realm of increased polycounts and fancy updated textures.

The blog series, Artcraft, offers a really interesting insight into Blizzard's process of revamping their character models, and the painstaking balance required to offer models rich in detail that players would expect in 2014, but also remain faithful to the spirit of the models players have been using for almost a decade now - as well keeping them in-tone with WoW's cartoonish artstyle. Seeing the two models right next to each other, 10 years apart, puts the evolution of both Blizzard's art department and the technology behind World of Warcraft into fairly stark relief.

Whilst I've never been fond of playing a human character in Warcraft, the updated model looks really great to me. Let's hope the Human male models get a revamp just as great, considering that they've never been lookers! Blizzard plans to have updates for all of the 'Vanilla' races of WoW, as well as the Draenei and Blood Elves, implemented in time for Warlords of Draenor's release later this year.
